Week of November 13: Almost Holidays!
This is our last week of school before Thanksgiving, which means life is about to go into fast forward mode!
It’s our last week of school before Thanksgiving break. And we all know that life goes into fast-forward mode after that, so it’s basically the last week of school before the holidays. Ahh!
Over the last few years, I’ve become a big fan of Thanksgiving. I really enjoy cooking, hosting, and making beautiful tablescapes. My kids love spending time with their cousins, and I love catching up with my sisters and parents. My sisters and I are planning a woodlands-themed tablescape, which I’m very excited about. If you don’t follow Mrs. Alice, you should. She is my idol. We’re also planning a big family pickleball tournament. And we’ll play some Mahjong. We grew up playing with my grandmother, so it’s a special pastime for us. And, because we’ll be in the mountains, we’ll do lots of hiking and sitting by the fire. I can’t wait!
Until then, we have school lunches and weeknight dinners. I’m making a baked shrimp dish, weeknight bolognese, a chicken chili, and some pumpkin pancakes this week. Just a regular week! Some of these can be doubled and frozen, so look before for those notes. I may start some of my dishes for Thanksgiving if I have time. I’ll post here on substack if I do. Some things I’m hoping to make in advance: cinnamon buns, pie crust, and salad dressing.
